The legacy attached to the Joburg Open is the development of golf, particularly among previously disadvantaged people.

The four amateur golfers who participated in the tournament did well, even playing better than some of the professionals on the Sunshine and European tours.

THE weather has not been kind to golfers, with afternoon play suspended regularly during the Joburg Open. Saturday was the first day of full play.

Scores of youngsters learned tricks of the trade from some of the best golfers in the business at the Joburg Open Golf Development Clinic.

The Joburg Open is the only tournament to be played on two courses simultaneously – the East and West greens of the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.
