Steeped in history, the club is the product of a merger between Royal Johannesburg Golf Club and Kensington Golf Club. Both courses are beautifully laid out with lush, sweeping playing areas, quick, undulating greens and fairways lined with a variety of well-established trees including the characteristic poplars that wreak havoc with wayward shots. The East course has long been regarded as one of the finest tests of golf in South Africa and the West is hardly a pushover, but there's more to RJ&K than two great courses: it was the first 'members club' to be granted Compleat Golfer's 5-Star Golf Experience Award - and for good reason. The club presents visitors with an unequalled sense of golfing history, a vibey, lively clubhouse, first-rate facilities and a new golf academy and driving range run by PGA professional Martin Briede that is fast becoming one of Gauteng's prime breeding grounds for the superstars of tomorrow. |
